welcoming INDIAN MONSOON
India's southwest monsoon rains, the country's economic lifeline, are expected to hit the Kerala coast on May 30, two days ahead of schedule, the monsoon in India is a pleasant experience, particulary in western India, the arrival of monsoon is fabulous to watch. Here I wish to recount my experience of Monsoon in Mumbai.
After stucking Kerala, monsoon normally cover Mumbai around end of June. But little patches of clouds starts rolling from Bay of Bengal at least 4 or 5 days prior to the actual onset. A layman can easily understood some system is brewing in the sea.
Suddently on the day of onset, the cloud becomes thicker, darker and murkier and it may look like a thick dark sheet of umbrella is going to cover the city and as the cloud cover goes, rain starts to pour, in mumbai as they say, when it rains, it pours!!!
Even after a terrible downpour, people and system will be unfazed and we could see people continue to perform their daily activities without any botheration to the rain, but things may go out of hand only if the rain is abnormal.
Watching the clouds, the movement of the clouds, the colour of the clouds and the way the cloud cover spread during the monsoon is a delight. India is awaiting for the next monsoon, 2006 the annual life line which feeds to millions.
Also the train travel from Trivandrum to Mumai during the mid monsoon season via Konkan railway route may be heavenly and delight to watch and the experience is beyond description.
Wet us hope and pray for a bountiful monsoon 2006!!! I wish to bring out the pre-monsoon feelings from some of the borrowed images.
