This is the a picture of shree venkatachalapathy temple, at Nellicherry village, Palakkad. Palakkad is the gate way to kerala... It is granary of kerala with rich paddy and rice fields. There are plenty of traditional villages in and around Palakkad. It lies at the foot of western ghats. We can consider PalGhat or Pali kkadu - palai means dry nilam.. dry area in tamil (marudham, mullai, neithai, palai - four kinds of land mass)
I envy the lied back village life at Palakkad. The people value the tradition and customs and there are many famous temples around Palakkad. Kalpathy Rathostavam is very famous. The temple car festival normally celebrated for 10 days with different decorations and the "theru" shall be taken for procession around the village with full participation of the community and the village took a festive ambience. The Nellicherry village also celebrates temple car festival and I even attended it once and looking forward to attend each year, as the festive mood and involvement is infectious.
I like the above photo as it symbolises the village culture and tradition of our country, the wet road, dark clouds, grown coconut trees, temple tank at the back...truely reflects our country lives in villages...
