Last week I made a trip to the famous temples in Andhra Pradesh, namely Srisailam and Mahanandhi.The shrine of Lord Mallikarjuna picturesquely situated on top of Nallamalai Hills, Srisailam is reputed to be one of the most ancient kshetras in India. It is on the right side of the River Krishna in Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh.

The Srisailam temple is excellent, the shiva linga is a jyothirlinga and the size of the linga here is small. The route from Hyderabad to Srisailam is a real treat to nature lovers.

Still wonderful is that the route from Srisailam to Mahanandhi, as it is passing through thick forests. One can see the nature in its abundance, with varied landscape, such as hills, mountains, plains, fertile lands, green agriculture fields, water bodies, lakes, ponds, plain landmass and so on

Overall The trip was pleasant, as there is no much traffic flow and seldom one could find any vehicle coming across. In one place towards a narrow one way lane to Kurnool (110 Kms), from there another lane to Nandyal, where Mahanandi is situated, there we got struct for a while as road repair work was in progress. For kilometers nothing is available, lucky if you have water or eatables. One of the road laying worker, who was old and weak, after sternous work is pleading everyone for drinking water in that jungle, ( he told that he is looking for water but not available anywhere nearby) but nobody gave water to drink, he approached us and eventhough I was little hesitant initially as we have just one plastic bottle of water, but that poor man's plight made us to donate the water bottle to him, he drank it fully, and it made me to think how important and precious water is... One could imagine if our vehicle struck inbetween what is the fate....

The Mahanandhi temple is wonderful... there is water-flow, by way of canal inside the temple, and there is bathing ghat ( theppa kolam) inside the temple. The temple and its surrounding is very pleasant in Mahanandhi and one could feel the rural ambience in abundance.

The strange think what we saw in the Mahanandhi temple is the mosquito menance, we could see mosquito coils near the shrines...Since the temple is located near forest, that could be some different variety of forest mosquitoes....its bit is terrible and makes people to scratch their skins.

The return journey through the Kurnool - Hyderabad Highway... was a pleasant one as there is well laid road, on one side road expansion work under progress - 4 lane road conversion, neverthless the return journey was speedy... Overall it was an unforgettable journey indeeed...

this trip made me to accept - our Country India is truely an Incredible !ndia..

We havent explored it fully, It needs more time and energy to explore, still there are plenty of places in India to see and enjoy, Truely India is incredible, mystic and one could see varied facets of life, culture, habits, people, and places.

nice memorable movie

Last sunday, seen the latest movie - TAARE ZAMEEN PAR....

It was a fantastic movie, and it tells a very good message... i feels this movie should be watched by all the parents and all the school teachers...

The story line revolves around a young boy, Ishaan Awasthi, an eight-year-old boy whose world is filled with wonders that no one else seems to appreciate; colours, fish, dogs and kites are just not important in the world of adults, who are much more interested in things like homework, marks and neatness.

And Ishaan just cannot seem to get anything right in class.When he gets into far more trouble than his parents can handle, he is packed off to a boarding school to ‘be disciplined’.

Things are no different at his new school, and Ishaan has to contend with the added trauma of separation from his family.

One day a new art teacher bursts onto the scene, Ram Shankar Nikumbh, who infects the students with joy and optimism.

He breaks all the rules of ‘how things are done’ by asking them to think, dream and imagine, and all the children respond with enthusiasm, all except Ishaan. Nikumbh soon realizes that Ishaan is very unhappy, and he sets out to discover why. With time, patience and care, he ultimately helps Ishaan find himself..

The story also highlights the problem of "dyslexia". Parents used to blame children without understanding the root cause of the problem... simply they categorise them as useless, idiot, and poor in studies, mischievous, inattentive and so on.. but a careful analysis reveals that it may be beyond the control of the poor children...

Dyslexia (say: dis-lek-see-uh) is a learning problem some kids have with reading and writing. It can make words look jumbled. This makes it difficult for a kid to read and remember what was read.

The problem does occur in the brain, though. Sometimes the messages the brain is sending get jumbled up or confused. A kid who has dyslexia might get frustrated and find it hard to do schoolwork. But the good news is that dyslexia doesn't need to keep a kid down.

So if children having learning difficulties, dont scold the child,,, better consult experts and correct you child with support and care...

Your child could be one, just like Einstein, Walt Disney, the actor Tom Cruise, and the long list of others who succeeded despite dyslexia.

I could see many parents moved to tears in the last scene... the scene when the boy shows his gratitude to the Master after winning the drawing competition.. the scene was picturised with emotion filled eye to eye contact alone ..

kite flying experience

I heard about Baroda; famous for kite flying during Makarshankranthi ie in Tamil Pongal festival, but this year I saw it... wow what a fantastic experience... people with all the family members assemble in the terrace., from young to old people involved in kite flying.. it was amazing sight that girls took active part in kite flying and even dare to deal, ie cut others kite... kudos to their spirit.

Prior to two days before Makarshankranthi, all the lanes and by-lanes were filled with ubiquitous shops selling various kinds of kites, threads, manja threads of various grades, googles, finger protection gloves, plasters, cacophony devices such as whisles, long and short, and various other mimcic items.

On January 14th people started flying kites since early morning, and the show did not end till late night. In the evening people brought snacks and eatables in the terrace and shared to the kite flyers... It was delightful to watch, full family participation in event like this., for example the wife is preparing tying the kite, ie in tamil we used to called susthram- ie it is complicated and skill ful art, one has to tie the kite with thread in a fixed ratio proportional to the dimension, still this date, i am ignorant of how to do it.. but ofcourse this year my neighbour hood boy trained me his expertise.

in this junction I wish to mention, my neighbour hood boy, who is studying 8 th standard, and he is highly skilled in kite flying, i think he could make anykind of kite to fly... it involves skills and dexterity in releasing the thread, as well as manipulating it to move up and up, on the side of the wind... I tried many times, but unable to hoist it in top, invariably I sought his assistance to climb the kite up.

In the evening I could see no space left for flying the kite even for few minutes, before that somebody would cut our kites, the sky was filled with different colour, different shapes and size kites, inbetween we could see kites with lamps ie jyothis and gas balloons big and small, filled the air.. wow it was amazing seen, unfortunately I Cound not make snaps this time..

The kite flying continued on January 15th also. Night time people used audio system and enjoyed along with kite flying.. If there was a deal, ie cutting of other's kite the whole group and the family members joins in celebrating the event by a loud shout" wooooo" like that... we used to hear the sound till late night yesterday and gradualy the sound subdued.

For the past two days who city was almost closed, which means the entire people joyfully enjoyed the event...

Today morning i checked the sky, it was absolutely clear, and everywhere I could see the threads and broken kites... in our compound I could collect 6 good kites which are fallen in deal, ie for about 250 sq feet one could get 6 kites means, just imagine how much kites they could have used yesterday...

a wonderful event passed by... just awaiting for the next kite flying event.....

unforgettable day

on this fateful day January 14th, my beloved mother attained the lotus feet- still I feel the vaccum and a sense of emptiness prevails, still unable to believe that she is not alive...

the love and affection of a mother is precious and unfathomable, and cannot be replaced.

Those happy days with my mother can only be remembered. I am yearning for those happy days, but now it is not possible as she is not there, I could only cherish those sweet memories...

True love

I received these images of true friendship and love by email... Who says only humans know what is love... this pictures shows dogs are second to none..


A dog was knocked down by a car and died on the middle of the road. Later, another dog is seen beside the corpse of the dog, he tried to wake his friend up using his leg.



When his attempts to wake his friend failed, he tried to push his friend to the side of the road. But the weight of his friend was proven too heavy for him.

Though the traffic is busy and dangerous, he just will not go away from his friend. Just stand beside his friend howling and crying.

A lot of people saw this incident and feel very touched. How even a dog can show his loyalty and love to his friend.

Touching love Isn't, we can learn a lesson or two from these lesser sense beings.... but many times humans are worser than the animals.....

inspiring true life incident

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime (ten cents in USA) left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house.

However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water! She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it so slowly, and then asked, How much do I owe you?"

You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness."

He said ... "Then I thank you from my heart."

As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.

Many year's later that same young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease.
Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the Consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room.

Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to her case.

After a long struggle, the battle was won.

Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, and then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention

on the side of the bill. She read these words...

"Paid in full with one glass of milk"

About Dr. Howard Kelly:- Howard A. Kelly was born in Camden, New Jersey, and reared in nearby Philadelphia. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with an A.B. in 1877 and received an M.D. from the same institution in 1882. He interned at Episcopal Hospital (1882-1883) and then entered private practice in Philadelphia. In 1883, he founded Kensington Hospital for Women in Philadelphia. From 1888 to1889, he served as associate professor and professor of obstetrics at the University of Pennsylvania. Between 1886 and 1889, he made various trips to Europe to study and visit hospitals. Recruited by William Osler, Kelly came to Johns Hopkins in 1889 as gynecologist and obstetrician and professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the school of medicine which was being formed. A few years later, he also joined the staff of a private hospital that his colleague Hunter Robb had established. In 1912, the private hospital was renamed the Howard A. Kelly Hospital. He retained an affiliation with the Kelly Hospital until it closed in 1940. At Johns Hopkins, Kelly rose through the academic ranks. He served as professor of gynecology and obstetrics (1889-1899), professor of gynecology (1899-1919), and emeritus professor of gynecology (1919-1943). Kelly was a highly innovative surgeon. He invented numerous surgical devices, pioneered many new operative procedures for the female sexual organs, kidneys, and ureters, and was an early proponent of the use of radium for the treatment of cancer. Kelly contributed significantly to the establishment of gynecology as a specialty. He was a highly effective teacher who taught mainly by demonstration in small groups. A prolific writer, Kelly published extensively on surgical subjects as well as medical biography, botany, and the natural sciences. He was a deeply religious man who engaged in an active course of civic work throughout his life.
